Creative Container Gardening - April 26, 2011 - Daily Family Friendly Tips

Creative Container Gardening

Here is a list of different items you can use to make some very creative plant and flower displays:

Work Boots (leave the toe intact or cut out for flowers to bloom out both ends)
Metal Buckets & Pails (these can be painted in either a solid color or with a decorative design–but plain metal works too)
Wicker Baskets (these can be painted)
Wooden Kegs/Whisky Barrels/Rain Barrels
Wheelbarrow
Old Toybox & Wooden Crates
Deep Roasting Pans, Stock Pots
Old Bicycle
Old Fashioned Baby Carriage
Mailbox
Old Chair (cut out the seat and attach a fitted container inside)
Dresser Drawer
Deep Enamelware Pots
Child’s Wagon (choose one that’s deep so there’s lots of soil for the plants to grow)
End Table (turned on its side)
Watering Cans
Hypertufa Containers
Bird Houses (large with the roof removed and a plant inside)
Wooden Tool Box
Old Fashioned Bird Cage (pot inside)
Hollowed Out Stumps & Logs
Old Wash Tubs
