Can a dog get sick from a bee or wasp sting, or insect bite?

Many dogs like to snap at bees, wasps, and flies. Some dogs think an insect is a hors d'oeuvre. Usually a sting or bite will cause local swelling that will eventually subside. If your pet exhibits extreme swelling on the face, lips and eyelids, it is an allergic or anaphylactic reaction. It is a medical emergency. Call a veterinarian immediately. The dog may need an emergency trip to the animal clinic for treatment.
