Breastfeeding - Breastfeeding Multiples

I don't have much experience with this topic, so I'm just listing a few links here. One common question people have is whether they will have enough milk for multiples. The answer is definitely yes for twins and triplets, and possibly even for more. The links below contain references to many mothers who have successfully (and exclusively) breastfed multiples. Remember: the more your breasts are stimulated, the more milk they make (see also: milk supply) Twins provide twice as much stimulation, so your breasts make twice as much milk--so it helps to avoid supplementation as much as possible. What the physiological limits of milk production are I do not know, but it seems that it's no trouble for most women (with adequate breast stimulation and nutrition) to produce more than a gallon of milk per day--easily enough for three or even four babies. The main impediment to nursing multiples is the time and energy it takes, not the amount of milk you need to produce. But then don't forget that bottle-feeding multiples may be even more work.
