For those of you who are personally affected by our nations tragedy, please know that you are in our prayers here at ChildFun. While we rally behind our President and our military, please know that there are millions of people all over the country, and the world, who are praying for you at this very instant. We have compiled a list of useful links and phone numbers. Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone you wish.
How to Help your Children Understand this Tragedy For Families of the Victims - American Airlines says those who wish to receive information about relatives should call American's response number at 1-800-245-0999. You can find more info on this web site.
- The hotline for United Airlines is 1-800-932-8555, and you can find more information online.
- Morgan Stanley, the largest tenant in the former World Trade Center, has set up an emergency phone number for employees and families to call at 1-888-883-4391.
- You can also call The Office of Victims of Crime hotline at 1-800-331-0075 to to get more details about victims and survivors.
Donations and Giving Blood - The United Way of New York and the New York Community Trust have established a fund to help the victims of the attacks and their families. The September Eleventh Fund will provide immediate support to established emergency assistance agencies. Anyone wishing to contribute may send their donations in care of United Way, 2 Park Ave, New York, New York, 10016, or call: (212) 251-4035. Donations are also being accepted on United Way of New York City's Web site:
- The American Red Cross responded immediately to Tuesday's disasters and continues to provide mass care and blood products in affected areas. The Red Cross activated its Aviation Incident Response (AIR) Team to respondin New York City. Trained disaster workers from the American Red Cross of Greater New York and the National Capital Chapter in Washington, D.C. are leading relief efforts in the affected areas.
- Within a half-hour of Tuesday's terrorist attacks, volunteers from around the country filed into American Red Cross blood centers and hospital blood banks. If you can give blood and are within the New York, Pennsylvania or close by area please see the following URL. Elsewhere, you can also call the American Red Cross blood donation hotline, at 1-800-448-3543, or watch your local news - many cities nationwide are setting up several additional blood donation locations. According to CNN this morning, (Sept 13th, 2001), O positive and O negative blood are in high demand..
- The Red Cross has been on the scene from the beginning providing disaster support in the form of food, shelter and mental health counseling to all individuals affected. To help the victims of these and other disasters please support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
- The Salvation Army can accept financial contributions through 1-800-SALARMY.
- National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) is a partnership in disaster response. The organization was founded in the simple belief that the time to prepare for the next disaster is now.
- People with information about the terrorist attacks are being asked to contact the FBI at 1-866-483-5137 or via its Web site:
- Professional healthcare workers who wish to volunteer their services can call 1-800-628-0193 to find out how they can help.
- Amazon.com has made it easy to donate to The Red Cross. If you've ever purchased a book at Amazon, you're already set up to make a donation.
Charity Auctions and Sales - COURT TV'S NYPD BLUE CHARITY
All proceeds from this auction will go to the New York Police & Fire Widows & Children's Benefit Fund, a non-profit organization established in 1985 by Rusty Staub. The Fund gives financial assistance to families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty. - CHIVAS 200
