Just Be Quiet By Cheryl Demas of WAHM "Power Kicks, Power Kicks, that's all they're talking about on TV!" My 5-year-old daughter walked into the kitchen complaining the other day. "Power Kicks? What are you talking about?" "It's on TV all the time! It's on right now!" "No Dani," I told her, "this is a show about people who want us to vote for them next year." "Right, but just be quiet and listen, Mom." I could tell she was getting frustrated with me. She pointed at the TV. "Power Kicks in 2000, Money and Power Kicks. It's so booooor-ing!" "Oh, politics!" I finally understood. "They're talking about politics." Now, I don't always look to my 5-year-old for advice, but this time she had a good point. "Just be quiet and listen." That is good advice for all of us. I hear from so many moms who want to work at home, but they just can't find the right opportunity. Or they're frustrated with their business, or their husband, or their kids … there are plenty of challenges associated with working at home. But sometimes the answer is right in front of us, we just need to take the time to be quiet and listen. We live in such a hectic world, when was the last time you just sat quietly, with no distractions, no noise? Sometimes we need to clear our mind to really be able to hear the answers. There's always something making noise in our house, TV, radio, even the refrigerator motor. When the power went out at our house for a short time the other day, I was amazed at how quiet the house became. It was wonderful! Give it a try, spend your quiet time praying or meditating, clear your mind of the distractions of life and see what you are then able to hear. Just stay away from Power Kicks.
